Liked it, but there wasn't a way to save at the end. How will this affect the sequel?

I meant to ask about this myself, as I never like to uninstall games that will have sequels just in case. But I have a feeling the new game will begin as a standalone, without importing a previous saved game file into it like the Aveyond series. I believe the rule is that if a previous game's save file is meant to be imported it will say so at the very end of the game. If nothing happens, the sequel will be presented as if it's a standalone.
